Tojinnbo in Fukui

Tojinnbo is a name of the famous cliff in Fukui prefecture. One of the reasons of its fame is the amazing scenery from the cliff !!! You could see a geologically rare and compelx-shaped rocks, and stand in awe of the nature, which still keep changing its figure with sea waves.

The story of the cliff is like this; long time ago, there was a monk called Tojinbo, who liked a beautiful girl. Another monk (rival of Tojinbo) also liked her, so he pushed Tojinbo over the cliff. Then, lightning storm suddenly came and kept up for 49 days. This is why the cliff is now called Tojinbo.

Birthplace of the Iga Ninja in Mie

Went to the birthplace of the ninja in Mie prefecture.

 ↑Inside of the ninja house. The woman in the middle disguises herself as Kunoichi (a ninja woman), showing aroud and explaining a couple of special devices of the house such as spinning walls and some spaces for hiding when the enemy intrudes. The work of the ninja sounds so hard and dangerous...

"little things I should have said and done"

One of the purposes of this blog is mostly for foreigners to know how many places to visit there are in Japan. There are hundreds of websites introducing Japanese cultures, architectures and stuff like this, but I think most of them are not written by the Japanese. So the sites are likely to show you about only famous places such as Kyoto and Tokyo, though there should be much more areas to be known. I am Japanese and should know about more places to visit than those websites do. Therefore, I started writing in English with uploading photos.

I've studied abroad to improve my English. In my opinion, being able to communicate in English makes it possible to communicate with people all over the world, and with the skill of speaking, I could travel everywhere by myself. (That was not true though..)
Travelling a couple of countries, I could find there are so many differences between Japan and the other countries, which made me find that Japan was still great unless the politicians were fuckin' shit. Things I could do for this country would be few but introducing amazing spots for tourists would be what I might be able to do.

I hope this blog helps you to find that there are many which are not famous but well worth going.

Akame Shijuuhachitaki (48 waterfalls) in Mie prefecture

The place where I'm gonna introduce from now on is, a definitely recommendable tourist spot especially for foreigners because there are few people visiting this place despite you can see so many different beautiful waterfalls through walking in the mountain.

I guess people who like outdoor activities must love this place !!!

The waterfalls are called Akame Shijuuhachitaki (Shijuuhachitaki means 48 waterfalls in Japanese but there are indeed 23 waterfalls in the spot).

These unique shaped objects are kind of snacks. The name of them is really funny. It's called Hekoki-manju in Japanese. Manju means a cake with bean paste inside, which is a usual Japanese snack. However, the problem is that Hekoki means "farting". Why named like this is because it's made from sweet potatoes. In spite of its strange name, the taste is great !!! Worth trying !!! And then, you can get the funny story (having "farting snacks") for your friends in your country.

↑Just beautiful !!! It's totally beyond description. Fresh air, shiny green basin and negative ions will remove your stress and make you relax.

Kyoto in autumn

This picture is somewhere in Kyoto...(sorry, I didn't remember the exact place, but it must be near Heian Jingu Shrine).
You can see the red gate in the middle, which stands in front of the shrine and is so big (bigger than normal ones) that I had to pay attention to it at that time.
Because of the beauty of leaves changing color, I would say you have to visit Kyoto in autumn once in your lifetime!!!
